Professionals involved in the governance, risk, audit and compliance space within government and non-government-organisations require a good understanding of the regulatory and organisational framework that they function in.
Independent Members and Chairs of Audit, Risk and Improvement Committees are challenged to provide advice and value to Boards/Councils and Top Management without operational authority.
Professionals who fulfil ARIC roles often come from a variety of backgrounds, including finance, accounting, business, law, engineering and other base-disciplines. The common trait however is a need for consulting and advisory skills beyond their technical background – and this is the domain of the Institute of Management Consultants.
To ensure that professionals in ARIC roles have an opportunity to network and discuss common challenges, IMC has established a Special Interest Group (SIG) for independent members and chairs of Audit, Risk and Improvement Committees.
Come and join the Discussion!
Guest Speaker
Kerrie Davies
Kerrie currently works for the NSW Office of Local Government (OLG). Over the last few years, Kerrie has worked in both legal and policy roles, including in the council governance team. Following recent amendments to the Local Government Act requiring all councils to appoint an Audit Risk and Improvement Committee, Kerrie is leading the development of the regulatory framework for internal audit.
Kerrie formerly practised as a lawyer, both in private practice and in-house with a boutique funds manager.
