Much has been happening in IMC since my last newsletter and as we near the end of the financial year, I want to take this opportunity to update you on two important initiatives that will impact all of our members - the updating of our website, and the modernisation of our Constitution.
Update of IMC Website
Over the last four months, IMC has been working on the development of a new website with a contemporary look and feel that will provide you, our members, and site visitors with an improved user experience. Our new site will be mobile responsive and allow for greater interaction with your Institute and other members
Work on the site is now well underway and we are working towards a 'go live' date in early to mid-June 2020. Whilst our current site will be available up until that date and we will continue to post events and send you newsletters as usual, I need to advise you that from 15 May 2020 you will be unable to update your member details or renew your subscription until the new site comes online.
With that in mind, prior to Friday 15 May I would like to remind you to review or update your member details, particularly your postal address in readiness to receive your new Membership Card.
You may also like to consider renewing your IMC membership subscription early.
We do apologise if this causes any inconvenience, however the new site will benefit our members greatly.
Modernisation of the Constitution
The IMC Federal Council is undertaking a number of tasks in preparation for modernising our Constitution which will better position the Institute for the future.
The Institute has the opportunity this year to refresh, transform and optimise our governance model to the current best practice of Australian professional organisations.
The IMC Federal Council has agreed that adopting a new Constitution will bring benefits to the management consulting profession, the Institute itself and to our members. It will help improve services for members and to the broader management consulting profession. A copy of the proposed new Constitution is available to view on the current website at https://www.imc.org.au/resources/imc-proposed-constitution-draft.
As part of the IMC member consultation process, there are several opportunities for you to learn more about the proposed changes in the new Constitution and to submit feedback.
To learn more, you can:
- Review the summary of the changes available at https://www.imc.org.au/resources/imc-new-constitution-principles-2-may-2020 (or review the proposed Constitution itself)
- Attend the online meeting via webinar that will be held on Thursday 4 June from 4pm which will explain the reasons for the changes and seek participant feedback
- Attend your Chapter AGM in the coming months
- Provide feedback directly to the Federal Council
- Read and watch everything on the IMC website at www.imc.org.au.
The final decision of course rests with our members.
All IMC financial members will be asked to vote on a special resolution to adopt the new Constitution at the AGM on Friday 23 October this year.
Full information on the AGM, the proposed motions and how to vote will be distributed over the coming months and in accordance with IMC’s current Constitution, but importantly please note:
- You can cast your vote on this decision either in person at the AGM or via proxy.
- 75% of people who exercise their vote will need to support the motions for them to successfully pass.
Of course, you need to understand what all of this means for the IMC and for you before you vote.
We encourage you to learn as much as possible about the proposed Constitution and we strongly encourage you to have your say on this important decision.
If you have any questions, please ask us directly via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remember that we have a LinkedIn group now running for IMC members which you are welcome to join:

Finally, please continue to contribute to sharing ideas for webinar topics, Members’ Noticeboard or other support options, please contact Executive Officer Christine Cox at email@example.com.
In closing, I trust that you all stay safe and well as we see the very gradual easing of restrictions!
